LIVINGSTON MANOR — The Lady Yellowjackets are headed to Sectionals after defeating Livingston Manor 11-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The game, a fundraiser for the Sullivan County SPCA, brought both communities together to watch softball and support a local entity. Various items were donated, including food, paper towels, cleaning supplies and more!

In the game, Eldred’s Olivia Gonzalez knocked two hits, including a home run, and scored three times. Sydney Furler had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice. Christina Schafer and Rayanna Quintana each recorded two hits in the win. Chloe Warming tossed a complete game, striking out five and allowing an unearned run.

Livingston Manor’s Alex Potosek recorded a triple and Julia Meola had a hit and RBI in the loss.

Golf

The Monticello girls defeated Fallsburg 175 to 200 at the Monster on Friday afternoon. Monticello’s Abby Morse shot a match-best 53, with Sophie Jacobs submitting a scorecard of 57. Monticello’s record moved to 9-7 (7-4) after the division victory.

Softball

The Liberty Lady RedHawks were on the road on Thursday evening as they took on the Lady Comets in a non-league matchup. Liberty’s offense got hot early as the team went on to win 22-4. Aubrey Botsford led the way with two hits, three runs scored and six RBI. Angie Wheeler had three hits including a double and drove in three runs. Mya Huebsch finished 2-3 as she earned three RBI as well. Wheeler pitched, allowing just four hits and striking out 11 batters over five innings. Fallsburg’s Jordan Bautista went 3-3 with two runs scored, and Marilyn Santos was on base twice with a walk and a hit with two RBI.

Liberty followed up their win over Fallsburg with a loss against a tough O’Neill team, 7-2. Going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Liberty trailed just 3-2, but a decisive inning by the Raiders helped to put the game away. Aliyah Williams had a home run for Liberty, and Angie Wheeler tripled, singled and drove in a run for Liberty. Elaina Ramirez, Mya Huebsch and Quinn Allen also recorded hits in the loss.

Chapel Field defeated Eldred 5-1 on Monday afternoon. Eldred’s Christina Schafer recorded two hits in the loss and moved to 2-2 in the division.

Liberty had back-to-back tough games, facing off against Chester and Beacon. Chester defeated Liberty 13-1 on Monday. On Tuesday, Beacon took a 21-4 victory in five innings to bring Liberty’s record to 5-10.

Baseball

Fallsburg hosted Liberty on Thursday evening, and the RedHawks defeated the Comets 26-8. David Philips and Riley Totten each had three hits for Liberty, the pair combined for ten RBI. For Fallsburg, Alex Depuy went 2-3 with a triple and four RBI. Nick Storms had a double, one RBI and two stolen bases in the loss.

Tri-Valley hosted Chapel Field on Friday afternoon, and the Lions won a decisive 19-6 contest over the Bears. Nate Closs was the losing pitcher for Tri-Valley, and Colin Monell went 1-1 with a double, a sac fly and three RBI in the loss. This comes after a continuation of a rainout on Thursday afternoon, with the Bears dropping a game against Chester. The Hambletonians won 15-0 after the game was rained out on April 30 and continued on Thursday.

Liberty defeated Sullivan West on Wednesday afternoon 6-4, bringing their record to 5-10-1 (0-4). David Philips tossed a complete game for the RedHawks and struck out eight in the win. Philips also went 2-4 in the game, and a late-inning 2-run double by Francisco Gonzalez helped to secure the win. Jacob Hubert had an RBI and two stolen bases for Sullivan West in the loss.

Tri-Valley squared off against Burke on Wednesday afternoon, and the Eagles took home a 9-1 victory over the Bears. The Bears were unable to get any hits in the game, but Haiden Sanders drew three walks, and John Moore drew two and scored the lone run for Tri-Valley.
