Elizabeth “Betty” Kelly, age 89, a longtime resident of Narrowsburg, NY passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Betty was born on June 19, 1935, in Spring Valley, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Sikora) Johnson.

Betty is survived by her loving family: Valerie/Anthony Albano, (Kyle, Paige) Clark/Maggie Kelly (Charlie, Tara, Eileen, Gavin), Carl/Christine Kelly (Kayla, Brendan), Linda Kelly (Keenan), Laureen Kelly (Mackenzie, Kelsey, Mason). Jessica and Caitlin (daughters of the late son Timothy Kelly). Also, significant others and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Eugene M. Kelly, her sons: Timothy Kelly and Daniel Kelly. Additionally, by her sisters, Olga, Francy and her brothers; George, Paul, Nick and Joe.

Betty was an avid artist creating over one hundred original oil paintings. Additionally, she enjoyed ceramic classes, baking fresh eclairs, and napoleons. She had a passion for writing and was honored with the Editor Choice award 1996 for outstanding achievement in poetry presented by the National Library of Poetry along with best speaker for Toastmaster International in 1998.

Betty was the former owner of Kelly’s Adult Home on Route 97 in Narrowsburg, NY, which opened in 1964 and an additional facility on Main Street which opened in 1976.

Betty was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg, NY. Annually she would participate in the St Patrick Day dinner dances funding for the church. She proudly represented the Catholic Daughters of America throughout the years and became one of the state representatives for two years in 1996 and 1998. Yearly, she coordinated the American Medical Benevolent Association, the blood analysis program.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 4-8 pm at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY and Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 12:30-1:15 pm. A funeral mass will be held after visitation on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 151 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY. Interment, St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Daughters of America Court Raphael, in Betty’s name to: The CDA, Court Raphael # 1542, Attn: Stephanie Snyder, CDA, 124 Steep Hill Road, Beach Lake, PA 18405.
