Ella Mae Messenger Price, a retired Account Clerk for the Town of Fallsburg and a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 24, 2021 in Springfield, Georgia. She was 87. Ella was born on March 19, 1933, in Monticello, NY, daughter of the late Claude and Edith Messenger, and was the beloved wife of 57 years to Lester G. Price who predeceased her on June 10, 2009.

Ella was a charter member of the Monticello Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and an active member for 35+ years. She also attended the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her children: Vincent and Glenna Price of Monticello, NY; Russell Price of Macomb, MI; Karen and Thomas DePace of Springfield, GA, and Kandi and Michael Hoyt of Rock Hill, NY; 16 grandchildren: James Price, Cathy Hurney, LeeAnn Fahnestock, Crystal and John Delfino, Christopher Titus, Craig Titus, Casey Titus, Alyssa and Anthony Freeman, Brittany and Brendon Cunningham, MichaeleAnn Hoyt, Nancy Price, Timothy Hurney and Christopher Fahnestock; great-grandchildren: Cailtin Hurney (Kyle), Courtney Hurney (Mario), Timothy Hurney Jr., Dylan Price, Devyn Fahnestock (Erin), Ayden Fahnestock, Hunter Delfino, Aryanna Freeman, Abigail Freeman, Owen Cunningham, Brooke Cunningham, and Baby Cunningham; great-great-grandchildren: Hayden Watson, Carter Bailey, Zalia Dowdell, Zabella Dowdell, Zakyah Dowdell, Zanovia Dowdell, and Baby Fahnestock; and her siblings Lillian (Otto) Ernst, LeRoy Messenger, Nancy Messenger and Linda Messenger, sister-in-law. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Claude Messenger, Howard Messenger and son-in-law Wally Titus.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home located at 401 Broadway in Monticello. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home, and facemasks are required. A graveside service and burial will follow at 3:30pm at the Messenger Cemetery in Monticello.
