Erik Joseph Clarke, of Grahamsville, passed away on October 24, 2023. He was 45.
The son of Jacqueline Clarke, he was born April 1, 1978 in Oceanside, Long Island, NY.
Erik started high school at Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY. He progressed to Glenmont Job Corp and graduated in 1995. His time at Job Corp had a profound influence, helping him transition to adulthood in a positive way. He was proud of graduating and earning his degree.
Upon completing school, Erik worked with his older brother as a landscaper and general contractor. Eventually he became a cook by trade, but cooking was more than just a trade, it was a passion. He truly enjoyed sharing of himself through the food he made. He was an avid auto enthusiast and would happily talk “cars” anytime the occasion presented itself. He really valued (being in) nature and enjoyed fishing, geocaching, and barbecues with good food and good company. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand when he could.
Family was significant for Erik. Most meaningful and important to him, Erik was the proud father to a son he adored and loved spending time with.
In recent years, Erik’s struggle with MS affected many aspects of his life. Though challenges and illness altered so much, Erik’s warm, gentle, giving heart will always be remembered.
He leaves behind his son, Bentley Xavier Clarke. He is also survived by mother, Jacqueline Clarke; siblings, Kevin and his wife Ela, Dawn, Elizabeth, Jacklyn, Danielle, Willie and Colleen, along with a large extended family as well as former partner and mother to his son, Melissa Clarke. He is predeceased by grandparents, L. Barbara Clarke-Cooper and Jack Clarke and cousin and best man, Derrick Clarke.
A Celebration of Life Gathering is being planned. Location: Hortonville Firehouse Meeting Room (park and enter in the rear of the building). Date: Saturday, November 11, 2023. Time: 1:00pm.
