Eugene H. Huebsch of Liberty, NY, a retired Corrections Officer for the New York State Department of Corrections - Sullivan Correctional Facility and a long-time area resident, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at his home.  He was 78.

The son of the late Clarence and Harriet Arthur Huebsch, he was born June 4, 1946 in Carbondale, PA.

Gene had served in the US Air Force, he was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, a Life Member, former Treasurer and Chaplain of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department.  He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Carol A. Henkelman Huebsch, at home; one daughter, Donna M. Huebsch of Hasbrouck, NY; two sons, Todd M. Huebsch and his wife Nicole of Woodbourne, NY and Daron E. Hubsch and his companion Jessica Belz of Middleburg, FL; one brother, Clarence Huebsch and his wife Martha of Cochecton, NY; nine grandchildren, Logan, Payton, Courtney, Cole, Daron, Jr., Corrine, Trey, Harley and Savannah; eight great-grandchildren;  one brother-in-law, Bill Henkelman; one sister-in-law, Marie Bailey Michael, two nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 10-12 noon in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Firematic services will be conducted by the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 12 noon in the funeral home.  Funeral services will follow in the funeral home.  Pastor Ginny Bossley will officiate.

Dignified cremation provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC and burial will follow on Wednesday in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
