I had a wonderful Mother's Day and I hope that all the moms out there did as well. My son Mike drove me down to New York City (aka “the city”), and we brought along my two fur babies, George and Gracie, who love the city and also told me they wanted to see their grand-niece Adeline.

We enjoyed a lovely French-inspired dinner prepared by my daughter Liz, son-in-law Peter, and granddaughter Adeline. We had cheese and champagne, quiche and croissants as big as our heads. It was fantastique!

After our repast, we took a family amble to Central Park “avec mes chiens.” Adeline clambered over the Alice in Wonderland sculpture, and we walked past the Conservatory Water where, before the pandemic, children and their parents could rent sailboats. If you've seen or read Stuart Little, you will recognize it as the body of water where Stuart races the sailboat.

As we walked back past the Sailboat Pond, we noticed folks oohing and aahing over a mommy duck out on the water with a dozen wee ducklings. Cameras were clicking as she herded her brood along the edge of the pond.

All the families out for a Mother's Day stroll were enjoying the duck family outing as well. The baby ducks were so adorable and tiny and it was clearly one of their first outings.

The sun began to disappear behind the clouds and raindrops began to fall so we decided to make our way back home where we stuffed ourselves with macaroons and a variety of French desserts. It was sublime.

Fighting the need to take a nap, Mike, George, Gracie and I climbed back into our chariot and made our way back up the road home.

George and Gracie did settle down for a snooze, and Mike and I listened to his latest podcast (Mike and Dane's Hall of Fame podcast) on the classic movie “The Rock.”

Another Mother's Day filled with thoughts of my own mother and grandmothers on my mind, and now complete with thoughts of a memorable Mother's Day spent with my daughter, a wonderful mother to my beautiful granddaughter. And the wheel keeps turning.
