Fallsburg man charged in robbery

LIBERTY — On Tuesday June 8, Village of Liberty Police arrested Colone Patterson-Dacosta, 33, of Fallsburg NY after an investigation into an alleged knife point robbery. Liberty Police were initially called to a residence on Chestnut Street in the Village of Liberty on May 15th, 2021. At that location police learned that an unknown individual had approached the resident, threatened them with a knife and demanded money. A family member called 911 and the unknown subject fled the scene. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Patterson-Dacosta in the Village of Monticello on June 8th. Patterson-Dacosta was taken into custody without incident by members of the Village of Liberty Police Department and the Village of Monticello Police Department. Patterson-Dacosta was charged with attempted robbery in the 1st degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, felonies, and menacing in the 2nd degree, a misdemeanor. Patterson –Dacosta was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court by the Honorable Judge Kirk Orseck. The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office recommended to the court that Patterson-Dacosta be remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of posting either $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 secured bond or $200,000 partially secured bond. Patterson-Dacosta, who was already out on bail from a July 2019 felony arrest for criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree (loaded firearm), criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the 4th degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th degree (hallucinogen), and criminal possession of stolen property was released without bail. After being released on his own recognizance, Dacosta was ordered to return to the Town of Liberty Court on June 9th. Village of Liberty Police were assisted in the investigation by the New York State Police and the Village of Monticello Police Department.
