FORESTBURGH —  Forestburgh Playhouse is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated 2023 season on the Main Stage, promising an array of captivating performances and unforgettable experiences for theater enthusiasts of all ages. Located at The Forestburgh Playhouse, the Main Stage will host an incredible lineup of shows from June to September, providing audiences with an exceptional entertainment destination.

Kicking off the season was “The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey,” a heartwarming and humorous play running from June 20 to June 25. 

Following the success of its predecessor, the Main Stage presents “Clue” from June 27 to July 2. Based on the beloved board game and the iconic 1985 Paramount movie, this hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery invites the audience into a remote mansion, where six enigmatic guests find themselves entangled in a web of deceit, murder, and blackmail. Prepare to unravel the mystery and join in the laughter as the unforgettable characters race to uncover the truth.

Audiences will then embark on a comical and adventurous journey with “Monty Python’s Spamalot!” from July 4 to July 16, 2023. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” this Tony Award-winning musical follows King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table in their quest for the Holy Grail. With infectious humor, unforgettable songs, and a dose of Python-esque absurdity, “Spamalot” is a must-see experience that will leave audiences laughing uncontrollably.

Prepare to be enchanted by the magical world of “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical” from July 18 to July 30. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved story, this Tony Award-winning masterpiece celebrates the power of imagination and the determination of a brave young girl who defies the odds. With exhilarating dance numbers and infectious melodies, “Matilda the Musical” captivates audiences of all ages, reminding them to embrace their uniqueness and stand up for what they believe in.

Embracing the quirky and macabre, “The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy” takes the stage from August 1 to August 13. This devilishly delightful production brings to life the beloved characters of the Addams Family in a hilariously spooky musical adventure. Filled with ghoulish effects, dark humor, and catchy tunes, this macabre comedy will tickle your funny bone and leave you laughing all the way to the graveyard.

Continuing the season’s stellar lineup, “Jersey Boys” arrives from August 15 to August 27, offering an enthralling journey through the rise of the legendary group, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Set against the backdrop of New Jersey, this Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical transports audiences back in time, chronicling the extraordinary success story of four talented individuals who went on to become pop music icons.

Rounding out the Main Stage season is “Misery,” a gripping stage adaptation based on Stephen King’s chilling novel. From August 29 to September 3, audiences will be captivated by the intense suspense as successful author Paul Sheldon finds himself at the mercy of his unhinged fan, Annie. With nail-biting tension and a masterful portrayal of psychological horror, “Misery” promises an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Dinner Cabarets at the Tavern!

In addition to the Main Stage productions, Forestburgh Playhouse invites patrons to indulge in delectable dining and enchanting performances at the Forestburgh Tavern. The Tavern presents a series of Dinner Cabarets throughout the summer, showcasing a variety of musical talents and themes. From power vocalist Christina Stroup’s captivating solo performance in “The Diva in Me” to the celebration of Broadway hits with the 2023 Resident Company in “Broadway in the Catskills!,” these intimate cabarets promise an unforgettable night of entertainment.
