Frank B. Decker, age 66, a life-long Sullivan County resident, left this world on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, with his loving family by his side.
Frank was born on September 25, 1955.
Frank was a jack of all trades, and had a heart for wander and adventure. He had a soft spot for the furred and feathered friends, and was friends to them all, both wild and domestic.
Frank had an untapped knack for music. You could always find him whistling away at an old country song, or maybe even one of his originals while working on the tractor or mowing the lawn.
Frank loved seeing others happy and would always lend a hand in need. He was interested in people's lives and loved hearing people's stories, and telling them just alike.
He was grateful to get to meet and see a variety of people and places in his life, and couldn't travel anywhere without being recognized.
Frank's work life started very young, and his work ethic never tired. He began working at a bus garage, where he learned the ins and outs of mechanics and where he developed his passion for vehicles.
Throughout his life he had a number of jobs, everything from logging to driving trucks to support his family. Most notably, Frank worked at The Center for Discovery for 26 years in the garage, keeping true to his passion.
In recent years he drove a school bus, and also worked for a local medical transport company.
Frank is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jacqueline Koester, his son Frank Jr. and wife Rebeckah and grandchildren, Brandon, Frank Lewis, Cheyenne, and Ruthie, his daughter Hayleigh and her wife Mariah Hasbrouck, his sister Shirley and husband Dennis, his sister Donna and husband Cliff, and many step-children, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank Loulander and Ruth Coddington, his sister Ruth Foley, his late wife Dawn Benton, and his stepdaughter Theresa Light.
Frank should be remembered as a quick-witted smart aleck with a love for adventure, and for having a kind and empathetic soul.
He was always an ally for people or animals down on their luck.
Frank was as loved as he was loving, and was truly a character who will never be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held for friends and family July 16, location to be determined.
