To the editor:
I can understand introducing readers to both ways of thinking. It is fortuitous to know what others think, and in this day and age, a safe and healthy outlook to have.
Ed Townsend introduced us to the ideas of one Fred Singer in his recent “Here and There Beyond the News” column and it reminded me that free speech is what made our country great, but misinformation is making it a dangerous place to live in.
Global warming is not a hoax. In the 1970’s red flags were going up warning us about the future of our planet. Global warming from fossil fuels and the lack of potable water are just two of the future problems identified then.
I pray more readers who read the column were as miffed as I was by its falsity and scared that such theories may actually ring true to any readers in 2022.
It’s too late to fix the global damage we have caused but we can slow it down.

When he writes about political or social issues Ed Townsend usually does NOT come right out and reveal his opinions. Instead he cites somewhat lesser-known, far-right individuals. He would then quote from them with the intent that readers will adopt their far-right attitudes and actions. If one is interested in sports and hunting, Townsend can be a strait laced, objective, entertaining reporter. But if you don't relish far-right menacing propaganda, turn away from the "Here and There" column.
