LOCH SHELDRAKE — With the JUCO season underway and a new leader at the head of the Generals game planning, this past weekend offered an exciting first look of things to come at SUNY Sullivan and their Men’s Basketball program.
Saturday’s game was full of excitement and showed how resilient and talented the Generals are. It also gave Interim Head Coach Simon Clement his first win.
The Generals, who have won five consecutive NJCAA Region XV DII Titles, showed their grit and hunger this past weekend at the 2023 Sullivan Tip-Off Classic with back-to-back comeback overtime wins to start their 23-24 season off with a 110-104 win on Saturday vs Montgomery College and a 90-86 victory over Howard CC on Sunday.
The Generals were led both days by Erik Jarecki and Jarell White, who are proving they are a force to be reckoned with as a solid inside out combo vs anyone. The Generals’ fast tempo and smothering defense will hopefully lead to yet another season of fast paced over the rim basketball that all the locals have come to love.
Coach Clement had nothing but praise for the boys after their relentless back-to-back wins stating that, “As long as we’re rebounding and limiting our turnovers, we can take on any team in the country. My guys are ready to compete with anybody.”
With the full season ahead and morale headed in the direction of success, it is looking like “The New-Look Generals” are must-watch basketball!
