Gerald W. Smith, age 78, passed away on November 13, 2022, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. He was born September 16, 1944, the youngest child of Chester and Laura Smith of Woodbourne, NY.
Following graduation in 1962, from Tri-Valley High School in Grahamsville, N.Y., he served in the USAF. Jerry retired from the USAF after 23 years with his last duty assignment at the Pentagon. During his military career, the family lived in and traveled to many states and countries throughout Europe. He then served as a civilian with the U.S Government at the U.S. Dept. of Justice and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Jerry retired in 2006 after a long-distinguished career both military and civilian. He enjoyed getting together with family, friends, traveling, and playing golf.
Jerry showed immense strength when faced with life’s challenges. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Keenie), of 54 years; his son, Brian Smith; grandson, Brendan Boddie; and great-grandson, Jaiden Boddie. He also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Evans; brothers-in-law William and Arthur Hussey, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Boddie; brothers Howard, Gene, Willis, Robert and Sherman; sister Betty Dean; his brother in-law, Michael Hussey, and his in-laws, Arthur and Katherine Hussey.
