Gerard C. Dertinger of Fremont Center, NY, a retired Signal Maintainer for the MTA in NYC and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab. and Residential Health Care Facility in Roscoe, NY. He was 91.

The son of the late Jacob and Helen Comford Dertinger, he was born July 31, 1930 in New York City, NY.

Gerard served Our Country from 1949-52 in the US Air Force. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching old movies.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Dertinger, at home; one sister, Alice McCarthy of Wappinger Falls, NY; one brother, George Dertinger of Buffalo, NY; three sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Black, Patricia Daur and her husband Chris, and Therese Manley; three brothers-in-law, John Manley, Robert Manley and his wife Karen, and Chris Manley and his wife Dian; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Dertinger and John Dertinger.

Visitation was held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. Funeral services began at 7:30; the Rev. Shannon Bailey officiated.

Burial with military honors will be Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1 PM in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
