Kauneonga Lake
To the editor:
Dr Jacob’s letter (Aug 1), “Poop and Circumstance,” underscores the next problem in Bethel that needs to be removed i.e. “old geesers” on the Bethel Town Board who snooze through their job and have no idea of what they speak. Bernie Cohen’s assumption that the goose situation was handled “underhandedly” is just indication of how he collects his benefits and doesn’t really do his homework. There was nothing underhanded about the Lake Association finally doing something to save our lake and solving a long standing problem that has plagued all of the people in Bethel who have suffered from geese poop and related issues. The Association had more than enough support and signatures, plus the backup of the USDA. We are now coming up on an election and it is about time we voted in people who are “awake,” younger and truly capable of dealing with town issues and setting out to settle them. Wendy Brown and Lisa Schick are two such candidates. Their election might revitalize a town board that has gotten too comfortable with passing the buck and hemming and hawing rather than take decisive action.
