Gloria Warner, a longtime resident of Jeffersonville and Callicoon Center, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Guadalajara, Mexico after a brief illness. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico on April 16, 1938, as the second of six children she spent her first 29 years in Mexico. She worked as a secretary during the construction of Aeropuerto Internacional Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. In 1969, shortly after her wedding to Walter Warner she emigrated to the US, settling first in Brooklyn and then moving to Callicoon Center. Gloria co-managed Warner’s Apple Orchard on Callicoon Center Road with her husband Walter, welcoming numerous apple pickers annually for many years.

Later, she was employed at Crotty’s Auto Parts in Jeffersonville as a clerk. While working for Crotty’s she assisted in raising their daughter, Robin, who viewed her as her second mother. She was devoted to her community as a member of St George’s Roman Catholic Church, an active participant of the seniors’ group in Jeffersonville, and a co-leader of the Brownies and Girl Scouts. During the nineties she was part of the Crotty’s Auto Parts women’s bowling team competing across NYS. Gloria contributed artistically to Jeffersonville by painting the display in front of the gazebo by the bridge. Her passion for painting was evident in her artwork which depicted rural countryside scenes and various other themes. Gloria was also a talented seamstress, sewing countless outfits and toys for the children in her life. In her later years she learned to crochet and outfitted her loved ones in scarves, hats and blankets.

Throughout her retirement, she divided her time between the US and Mexico, sharing her artistic talents with family members in both countries. She was loved by her family and the many friends and family that she made both here and abroad. Her joyous spirit will be greatly missed; she was always ready for a party.

Gloria was predeceased by her son, Alejandro Cesar Gonzalez Barajas, parents Asunsion and Antonio, brother Antonio, sisters Luz Elena and Teresa.  Gloria is survived by her son Walter Warner, formerly of Jeffersonville, and her grandchildren, Alejandro, Javier, Camila, Emma Jean, and Charlie, as well as her long desired, wished for daughter, Robin Crotty. She also leaves behind her sisters, Maria Luisa (Pepe) and Alicia as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were an active part of her life.

A Catholic Mass was celebrated on March 28 in Guadalajara, MX followed by cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Honor her memory with kindness to those less fortunate, as she was prone to do.
