Mayor says no room for migrants

Posted

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has traveled to the Mexican border and now has declared that "there is no room in New York" for busloads of migrants being sent to America's most populous city.

Well known writer, producer and director Timothy L. Reid, writing  for Reuters in Los Angeles recently commented,  "that the NYC mayor, a Democrat, was also critical of the administration  of Democratic President Joe Biden saying, now is the time for the national government to do its job about the immigrant crisis at America's southern border."

The visit of a New York mayor in a southern border  city about the issue of immigrants is unprecedented.

Busloads of migrants have been shipped north to New York and other cities by Republican run states.

Reid noted that, "this has exacerbated a housing crisis in New York and a worsening homeless crisis in the city."

Adam's trip to El Paso comes after he said the migrant influx into New York  could cost the city as much as $2 billion, at a time when the city is already facing a major budget shortfall.

In recent months governors from Florida and Texas have sent thousands of migrants seeking sanctuary in the United States to cities run by Democratic politicians.

Reid noted that, "the Democratic-run city of El Paso, Texas has been offering migrants free rides to New York City and Chicago as a means of alleviating the strain on city resources."

Reid said, "El Paso officials say the rides are voluntary and  they co-ordinate with the destination cities to help the migrants upon arrival."

Arizona and Texas say the buses are being routed to New York City , "to spread out the burden of unprecedented migration."

Texas Governor Abbott said, "President Biden's refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by this own open border policies had forced Texas to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe."
