The Sunshine Hall Free Library has their annual Town’s Treasures and Trinket Sale coming up on Saturday August 10. They have been getting donations for months now and have hundreds of items for sale.
Need a new rug, some antique chairs, appliances, antique oil lamps, power tools, glassware or a vintage chess set?
They got you covered and at fantastic prices. The doors open for the Sale starting at 10 a.m. in the Highland Town Hall (across from Peck’s Market in Eldred) until 5 p.m. According to Kari Margolis, the Coordinator and Curator for the Sale “it is a fun and fantastic way to support the amazing Sunshine Hall Free Library’s community programs and all the Sale proceeds will go to the library.”
The Library Board will still accept donations of items on Friday, August 9 and during the sale hours on August 10. Then as the best closing acts for this great sale day starting at 5 pm after the Sale has concluded you can join your friends and neighbors at our award-winning Shrewd Fox Brewery (named Best Craft Beer Selection) located around the corner and within easy walking distance of Town Hall at 552 Route 55 in Eldred across from Irene’s Diner.
They will have wonderful live music featuring the very popular River Ramblers Band (who have donated their services to the event) featuring first rate blues, country and bluegrass classic music which will take place in the Brewery’s comfortable backyard Beer Garden.
And of course they will be serving Shrewd Fox’s amazing lager beers, craft ales and ciders. Because of the owners Cindy and Bill Lenczuk’s generosity and community spirit all brewery sales made during the 5 - 8 p.m. time will be donated to support the Sunshine Hall Free Library.
Meet up with your family and friends at Shrewd Fox after the Sale, have a craft beer and gloat about all the fantastic bargains you managed to snag.
Come out and support the Treasures and Trinkets Sale, which is a major fundraiser for the Library and show your appreciation and support for their fantastic programs and unwind and enjoy some fabulous music and an award-winning ice-cold beer! See you there!
The summer barbeque season for our local organizations are in full swing- and it is my most anticipated time of the year. Par for the course I ended up missing the Lumberland Fire Department’s barbeque that took place last weekend which is one of my favorite events to attend with my friend and always sells out.
The next barbeque opportunity coming up is on Sunday, August 11 and is the annual summer event at St Anthony and St. Thomas Church’s combined Annual Chicken Barbecue which will take place at the St Anthony Church in Yulan.
The BBQ is one of the Parish’s signature events and will take place from Noon to 5 p.m. In addition to some perfectly cooked chicken (thanks to the culinary skills of the Parish’s Knights of Columbus) there will be corn, cole slaw, potato salad, homemade desserts, and a wide assortment of beverages.
There will also be some terrific raffle baskets, door prizes, 50/50, tricky tray and games for the children as well as live DJ music. The Parish has a very large and comfortable onsite event space, a covered pavilion called the Father Fabian Pavilion located behind the Church, so our very unpredictable weather will not be a factor in enjoying the BBQ and having a fun time with your neighbors.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids under twelve years old and take-out orders will be available. Tickets are available in the lobby of the Church after Mass, or you can contact the Rectory at 845-456-0404 or buy your tickets at the door on the day of the barbeque-if there are any left.
St Anthonys Church is located at 25 Beaver Brook Road in Yulan, and everyone in the community is welcome.
