Hilda L. Rossal, of Cochecton, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at home. She was 102.

She was the daughter of the late Otto and Meta (Holberg) Bruning, born on July 1, 1920 in Newburgh, NY.

Hilda worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone as well as working with her husband on the family farm, Rossal Dairy Farm.  Hilda kept very active in her community, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member of the White Lake Fire Co. Auxiliary, The Telephone Pioneers, Mothers of Bethel Ladies Aid for the Bethel Presbyterian Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Arlene H. Hillriegel and her husband Robert, Jane Wall-Lambrecht and her husband Gerry and Jon R. Rossal; stepson Robert Bruning; grandchildren Lee R. Hubbert, Peggy S. Marchese, Lori A. Lackey, Kim M. Hillriegel, Kevin S. Wall, Vanessa L. Reeves; many great-grandchildren, including Taylor J. Wall who was one of her caregivers; and many great-great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her husband Robert Rossal, who passed away in 2013.  

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

A visitation was held from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY.  On Sunday, March 12th, an Order of the Eastern Star service was held at 3:15 pm followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Dennis Rocket at 3:30 pm at the funeral home.  Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.
