We missed the opportunity this year of having the luxury of a bus trip available September 8 to the Cooperstown NY Baseball Hall of Fame.

But the show still went on even a year after their original induction ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The day offered some sunshine but through the clouds temperatures reached in the 70s and by the large crowd in attendance and the many Yankee fans cheering one had to know that Derek Jeter, their Captain and hero for the years he wore a Yankee uniform would officially become a Hall of Famer.

And, of course, Derek never missed the chance to call out the one writer who didn’t vote for him during his Hall of Fame speech.

MLB.com reporter Michael Guzman wrote that “Jeter’s status as a Hall of Famer was never questioned and the only issue would be if The Captain would be the second player to receive 100 percent of the vote.”

The Captain made it on the first ballot but only received 99.7 percent of the vote when one writer left Jeter off their ballot.

One could easily tell that it bothered Jeter who made sure to call out the one voter who believed Jeter wasn’t worthy of this honor.

Two years ago Yankees closer, Mariano Rivera, was inducted into the Hall of Fame and received 100 percent of the vote.

Derek noted he was honored to be inducted. The Captain gave much credit for his success to his parents who were in the audience along with Jeter’s wife, Hannah and their two young daughters.

Also brought into the Hall this day were Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons and Larry Walker. When in Cooperstown it’s always a great day to be a baseball fan.
