HURLEYVILLE – The Hurleyville Fire Department, in cooperation with the Town of Fallsburg, will be holding their 35th annual ice fishing contest on Saturday, February 11.

The contest runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Morningside Lake, 614 Brickman Road in Hurleyville. Registration will take place on the day of the contest and it is $5 for adults and free for 15 and under.

Refreshments and bait will be available, as well as hole drilling if needed.

The contest features both an adult and youth division with trophies for first, second and third in the following categories: Perch, pan fish, bullhead, walleye and pickerel. All fish must be legally caught and legal size.

There is also a special firemen’s contest. The Rich Farquhar Memorial Chief’s Cup goes to the top firemen’s team. All team members must belong to the same fire department and the teams can be as few as one person or as many that show up.

The Tappan Fire Department won last year and will be out in full force to defend the cup.
