ROSCOE — Governmental representation from the municipal level all the way to the state level gathered at the Community Center in Roscoe on Monday for a joint press conference between Callicoon and Rockland townships to discuss the next steps following the tornado that ravaged local communities last weekend.
The bevy of speakers affirmed their joint intent to collaboratively help local residents and businesses impacted by the storm.
“This is what our community is all about,” explained Town of Callicoon Supervisor Tom Bose. “Helping one another in times of need.”
Senator Peter Oberacker was in attendance, expressing his dismay to hear about the tornado.
“As I look here, I see heroes. I see heroes every step of the way that stepped up,” Oberacker said. “Everyone came together and worked as one unit.”
“I’m proud of the cooperation between four different levels of government, and I’m even prouder of all the emergency workers, firefighters, police officers and everyone else in the community who helped each other out during and after this storm,” affirmed Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Robert A. Doherty. “Thanks also to Congressman Marc Molinaro for joining me in touring the damage. Sullivan County will repair, rebuild and bounce back!”
