To the editor:
Recently you printed a letter 'Not Happy' by Virginia Jamieson of Beach Lake, PA.
In New York the Governor and democrats made new rules via 'their knee jerking legislation' after SCOTUS deemed a 109-year old NY gun law unconstitutional, great move on the courts decision as it was discriminatory and racist as well.
Well, of course, NY Democratic lawmakers went ballistic over that and came up with more stupid (my opinion) laws to slap SCOTUS, leaving NY citizens less safe than before and gave more help to criminals to be criminals with guns they shouldn't have.
Virginia doesn't like a sign that now has to be on NY doors allowing legal and lawful gun carrying. If the sign is not there the law-abiding can't carry but criminals and those that shouldn't have guns can. What NY Democratic law makers have done is to make targets out of everyone and gave criminals/loonies the advantage over us.
People no longer safe in NY due to these law changes.
Think about it!
You don't like a sign that offers protection from criminals but you will do business where criminals can and will go to harm you because of no sign needed. Since this is a 'NY Thing' stay in PA where lawful gun carry is allowed unless otherwise noted like the Federal 'NO Guns Allowed' sign used out west where criminals carry their guns in Malls and etc. since they can't read those signs.
I'm 'Not Happy' being blamed for what criminals do nor happy that I am restricted from possibly saving a life like yours because of political-knee-jerk-stupidity!

The 2nd Amendment provides for the right of only one specific group to "bear arms." That's for those who are members of a "well regulated militia," that presumably instead now applies to police and National Guard personnel. The NRA's tired motto should be revised to read, "Guns don't kill people-it's people WITH GUNS who kill people." The ridiculously easy availability of firearms (especially like in Pennsylvania) has turned our nation into a powder keg, and I won't visit scary Philadelphia for any reason.

Hey there Marshal Rubin, YOU always forget that it's the 'RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE that SHALL NOT be infringed'!
KGH - which part?

LHFC: That the right to keep and bear arms is limited to members of "a well regulated militia."
I happen to agree with Mr. Rubin.

Sorry but the RIGHTS of the People supersede for as you see this is the actuality.
You can agree with Marshall all you want and enjoy being right-less for anything that is a Right of the People you see as not.
Before, during and after Militias, the people owned and carried firearms. Just that in itself disproves the militia only concept.

LHFC1563:
The Second Amendment is one 27 word sentence (according to my count) composed of three clauses,
When I was taught to read and write I learned that one sentence conveys a complete thought and that all words in the sentence were equally important in understanding its meaning. Did I learn this wrong?
Why does the text of the Second Amendment start with: "A well-regulated militia," Clearly the authors of the amendment, and those who subsequently voted for its ratification, believed that those words were an important component of the right they were providing to the American people. How can these words be ignored when interpreting the amendment?
In addition, thank you for allowing me to agree with Mr. Rubin, I did not know I could do that until you told me I could.
I hope that you and your family and friends have and enjoy a peaceful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year.
