Dates to remember: A fundraiser for the AOH Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is being held on Saturday, February 26th from 2-6 at the Courtyard in Roscoe. The parade will be held on Saturday, March 19th led by the McPadden Pipes & Drums, AOH Sullivan Brothers, our own Jeffersonville Protection Hose #1 and several of Sullivan County’s Fire Depts. Lineup is at Noon by the Lions Field. (Willy Ave.) They are looking for floats, kids’ groups, marchers, marching bands, dancers, car clubs, veteran groups, Fire Department & Ambulance Corps to join them. Parade steps off at 1 p.m. Before the parade they will be selling chances for Bethel Woods season lawn tickets (includes chairs) for $10 each – drawing for 2 tickets will happen after the parade. Call (845) 482-3872 for FMI.

Before going to the Parade, enjoy a delicious Pancake Breakfast at St. George’s Church! They will be serving from 7 a.m. to Noon. The AOH Mass will be held first at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited – come out for the day, and enjoy a great time in Jeffersonville.

My “Cub Reporter” Jack Costello reports that the Heart-A-Thon was again a huge success with a big thanks to the generosity of everyone throughout Sullivan County, they collected over $91,000 this year! Jack wants to thank the members of the JEMS, Jeff Lion Club and our local businesses for their pledge donations. All of the donations stay 100% in Sullivan County, helping Garnett Health Medical Center’s Cardiology Department. We do indeed live in a small, and wonderful community of caring folks. Thank you, Jack and wife Doris, for all of your time volunteering for all of us. We do appreciate you!

Now for my “plug” for the JEMS! It is that time again to start planning for Spring! (If I see that groundhog he’s going to be GONE) The JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan) is the beautification group that takes care of making our Main Street and surrounding areas, full of flowers. They also put up the American flags throughout town, take care of the Welcome signs on each edge of town, set up family musical events for family fun, host the Jeff Jamboree/Duck Race each September, decorate town for the holidays and more…. They meet the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church (in their basement) and are always looking for new members. If you can volunteer for any amount of time helping with any task, they would appreciate it. For more information, please call, you guessed it, me!
