October 13 — The Penny Social held last Saturday in Jeffersonville was a huge success! A big “thank you” to our JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan) beautification group of volunteers who sponsored this great day. Many members and their children (some already part of the new Junior JEMS) worked all day and several worked during the week and for weeks before preparing for this fun filled time for all. The proceeds from the Penny Social will go 100 percent for the beautification of Jeffersonville and the surrounding areas. Thank you to all of the guests that came out with their families to support them!

This Saturday the Jeffersonville Fire Department is hosting their Annual Roast Beef Dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jeffersonville Firehouse. (Located at 4903 State Route 52 in Jeffersonville) All dinners will be sold at the door and will be take out only at $17 per person. Please come out and support these volunteers!

Barbara’s Bunch is planning an Adventure Getaway, the “Purple Moose Tour” for June 12-15, 2023. The annual blossoming of this captivating wildflower, the “Fields of Lupine Blooming” is a time-honored tradition in New Hampshire. The brilliant purples, pinks, blues and white spikes of the lupine flower carpet attract equally dazzling butterflies, creating a breathtaking floral display against the majestic backdrop of the Franconia, Presidential and Kinsman Mountain ranges. Some of the many highlights are three nights’ accommodations including some meals and baggage handling at the White Mountain Hotel and Resort, White Mountain Scenic Touring, Local Moose Evening Tour, Fadden’s General Store and Maple Operations and horse drawn wagon rides through a Christmas Tree Farm. For more information call Barbara at 914-799-3362 or email barbarahahl@yahoo.com. Reservations will not be taken without payment and seating is arranged in the order they are received. A complete itinerary with departure information will be sent to everyone who signs up.

The Western Sullivan Public Library welcomes in fall with the return of their annual Pumpkin Decorating program. There will be three opportunities for you and your children to create a new family tradition or resume a previous one. During their time together, they will share fall stories and memories, snack on witchy treats and decorate pumpkins from our local farmers!

Jeffersonville Branch: Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. Space at each session is limited as supplies are included, so registration is required. Please register online at www.WSPLonline.org.

Also, join WSPL this month for The Great Giveback. WSPL is working with The Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth to create “Comfort Cases.” Each comfort case will be given to children entering or in the foster care system. The comfort cases will contain essential items, with space for children to add personal possessions that help them find comfort. Please consider donating: small duffel bag or backpack, pajamas (no nightgowns), blankets, diaper wipes, diaper cream, baby bibs, baby washcloths, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap or body wash, deodorant & lotion (travel sizes), feminine products, coloring books & crayons, journals, pens & pencils. Contributions are being collected from October 1 to November 19 in a bin at each of the library’s branches.
