I always try to put as much of the local 4-H news as possible in my column. The 4-H is a great way for our youth to socialize with other children their own age and from all over the area. Many different topics are discussed, learned and the animal participation  was always our personal favorite with both our sons involved with cows and horses! The 4-H club I belonged to was the “Hummingbirds” with two fantastic leaders at the time, Mrs. Luckey  and Mrs. Royce. So, Apple Pond Farm in Callicoon Center, NY is organizing a sheep shearer  to come in mid-March and they are inviting local flocks to join them. This is a perfect opportunity for families with small flocks or 4-H projects to connect to these services. To get on the interest list and get more information call Sonja at 845-482-4764. Also, FAFA will be collecting warming items for donations. The link provides lots of details about Operation Gratitude. If not to a service organization, we may also distribute hats/scarves/mittens etc. on warming trees or fences outside of county warming centers or other public spaces, depending on how much we collect to donate.  Please email krl55@cornell.edu if interested in participating or donating. https://www.operationgratitude.com/volunteer/handmade-with-love/crochet-knit/
