Joan Christine Murran Reuss of Monticello, a retired employee of Slayton Studios and lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. She was 82.

The daughter of the late John J. Murran and Charlotte Backer Murran, she was born September 26, 1938 in Monticello.

Joan was a 1956 graduate of Monticello High School and was a lifelong animal lover and adopter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years: John S. “Jack” Reuss; their children: Cynthia Atkins (Terry), John Reuss, and Ronald Reuss (Deanna Wood); grandchildren: Chelsea Cunningham (Jeremy) and Sean Reuss (Shelby) and their mother Debra, and Stacey Reuss & her mother Lisa; great grandchildren: Shea and Maci Cunningham; her brother: John Murran (Jeanette); her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Miriam Davenport (Charles), Katheryn Dillon (Richard) and Carol Phelan (Phillip); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:30pm at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home, and facemasks are required. A celebration of Joan's life will be planned after the pandemic is over.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Catskill Animal Rescue Inc., 263 Old Monticello Road, Ferndale, NY 12734.
