John F. Salamon of Liberty, NY, a Real Estate Appraiser and longtime area resident, died November 19, 2024 at his home. He was 78.
The son of the late Peter P. and Vera C. Roberts Salamon, he was born September 19, 1946, in Greenwich, CT.
With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of “Pop Pop”. Pop Pop was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Pop Pop was a true testament to what it means to be a devoted family man. He was full of love, laughter, and a sense of humor that everyone loved. We all cherish every Sunday dinner we ever had, every vacation, and every round of golf. Pop Pop took such pride and joy from all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all loved him equally back.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet A. Batchelor Salamon. There was no greater bond and marriage that existed. He is also survived by three daughters, Sandy Van Aken and her husband, Bill, Cheryl Johnstone and her husband Stephen, and Jennifer Mitchell and her husband Mark; his grandchildren, Troy Johnstone and his wife, Kassondra and their daughters, Caroline and Adelaide; Bradley Van Aken and his wife, Ashlynne and their daughter, Joelle; Lane Mitchell and his wife Tara; Darren Johnstone; Maggie Mitchell and her wife Brianna; Brent Van Aken and his fiancée Debbie; Brooke Van Aken; and Dylan Mitchell.
John was a member of the Liberty Elk’s Lodge #1545.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 9 AM-11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Celebration of all that Pop Pop meant to his family and services will be Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Paul Ansbro and his family will officiate.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Tunnel to Towers, Disabled Veterans of America, or the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department.
