Kathleen Alice Langley, “Kathy,” age 77, of Damascus, PA and Whippany, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, at Whippany, NJ on November 5, 2022.

Kathy was born on November 13, 1944, in Paterson, NJ. She attended St. Anne’s Elementary School and St. Luke’s High School, Ho-ho-kus, NJ, while residing in Fair Lawn, NJ. She went on to higher education and a degree from Georgetown Visitation College in Washington, D.C.

Before residing in Damascus/Callicoon, she lived in New York City, Washington, D.C., Ann Arbor, MI and Chester, PA and enjoyed a successful career in Health Administration Programs. She then had another successful career in Real Estate with Klimchok Realty and Callicoon Real Estate, LLC, where she made many lifelong friends.

Kathy loved Callicoon and participated in many community organizations and activities. She and a long-time friend conceived of and brought to fruition Callicoon’s first  Tractor Parade almost 30 years ago. Kathy was the Tractor Queen forever after!  She brought about the Callicoon Creek Park committee to beautify the new town park, home to Sundays Callicoon Farmers Market. Her involvement with the Callicoon Business Association culminated in winning Sullivan Renaissance’s Silver Feather Award, which, together with town funds, created the new retaining wall and steps, Railroad Plaza, in Callicoon. Residents remember her for the traditional red geranium baskets hung on The Callicoon Depot’s stone wall. Her energy and ideas were limitless.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and William E. Langley and is survived by her sister Patricia Chirichella and brother William E. Langley; her niece Cara Chirichella Albano and husband Vincent; and her grandnephews Preston and Carter. She loved her family dearly and was a beloved sister, aunt, cousin and godmother. She treasured her friendships, many of whom  became her family too and she theirs. Her generosity, warmth,  kindness and wonderful sense of humor will be missed. She touched many hearts.

Private arrangements in New Jersey for the immediate family will be followed in Spring by a Celebration of Life gathering for friends and relatives in Callicoon.
