Kehrley, Brockner win Turkey contest

SULLIVAN COUNTY –– The results of the Sullivan County Democrat Spring Turkey Contest are in.
Mike Kehrley bagged the winning bird on May 2 in the Town of Bethel that weighed 24.2-lbs. He wins the grand prize of $50.

Kevin Brockner who took a 23-lb bird in the Town of Liberty on May 14, takes the second place prize of $25.
Both entries were scored at the Sportsmen’s Den, and winners should contact Managing Editor Joe Abraham at 845-887-5200.

Non-winning entries included Cochecton’s DJ DePaolo who came in third with a 21.5-lb gobbler that he took in Damascus, PA., followed by Don Delaney who came in fourth with a 20-lb, 1 oz bird taken in the Town of Tusten on Opening Day. Also, Shelby Stephenson came in fifth with a 19.8-lb gobbler taken in the town of Cochecton on May 15, and Stefano Pappalardo from Sussex County, New Jersey, took sixth place with a 18-lb, 4 oz bird taken in the Town of Tusten.

“Great job by all contest participants,” Abraham said, “and as always, thank you to all the local businesses that served as weight stations.”
