Kenneth S. Herfield, “Pop Pop”, age 73, of Rock Hill, NY passed peacefully on February 1, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family after a long, brave battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He is survived by his loving wife Ellen Herfield, who was by his side around the clock; his three sons, Ryan Herfield (wife Katie and daughter Joie), Todd Herfield (wife Ilana and son Jake), and Adam Herfield (wife Kate, son Dylan and daughter Blake); his brother Steven Herfield and sister-in-law Susie Herfield; niece, Rachel Rice (husband Chris); nephew, Matthew Herfield (wife Stephanie); niece, Shari Riddell (husband Jerry); niece Marnie Harris (husband Jeff) and great nieces and nephews whom he deeply adored. He also leaves behind a cast of incredible friends who he would curse us – in true Kenny fashion - for not mentioning: his beloved upstate crew; his Queens brothers; his fishing buddies. For a man who seemingly didn’t want to be bothered by a lot of people, he sure was loved by many.
Kenny was born on October 7, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Ruth and Milton Herfield. A Navy veteran, he was raised in Queens and migrated to the Catskills upon meeting his wife Ellen – whom he loved so much he married three times. He adored his wife Ellen and his three beautiful boys. Perhaps the proudest role he played of all was being beloved Pop Pop to his 4 grandchildren: Dylan, Blake, Joie and Jake. How they will treasure the time they had with him.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, cherished always.
