CHESTER, VT – It is with much sadness the family of Kevin Siegfried Kelting, announces his passing on February 1, 2025 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA with his brother and sister by his side.

Kevin was born just minutes before midnight on December 31, 1962 in Callicoon, New York. He was a 1980 graduate of Delaware Valley Central School, served in the United States Air Force from 1981 - 1985, and graduated from Alfred State College - Wellsville Campus in 1987 earning a degree after studying truck & diesel mechanics.

Kevin began working at Freightliner in Newburgh, New York. He relocated to Vermont in 1993 and spent over 25 years maintaining snowmaking equipment at Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vermont and Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire.

He was currently employed at Townline Equipment in Pittsford, Vermont. From a very early age, Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing and maintaining his traplines - often storing his pelts in mom's freezer until he had enough to sell. Kevin was most content behind the wheel of his Ford pickup or enjoying a ride on his Harley.

His first of many cross-country road trips took place weeks after high school graduation when he and his brother spent a month traveling throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Montana before returning home across Canada. Kevin enjoyed attending Nascar races all over the South - more than we could ever count, often with his sister tagging along.

He had a way of making an impression on the folks he met along the way and would be welcomed by name when he'd walk through the doors of his favorite barbecue joints all over the southeast.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Lou Ann Kelting of Chester, Vermont, his brother Edward and his wife Mary of Callicoon, New York, and his sister Heidi and her partner Rick Weston of Essex Junction, Vermont.

In addition, Kevin is also survived by two nephews, Brian Kelting and his family, Cody Kelting and his family, one niece Amanda Hulse, his loyal yellow Lab, Bristol, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his father Siegfried Kelting, his paternal grandparents Karl and Frieda Kelting and his maternal grandparents Philip and Dorothy Gottschalk.

The family will gather privately in the Spring to honor Kevin. It is our intention to spread his ashes in so many of the places he loved to visit from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for their kindness, care and compassion.
