Kirk O. Orseck, a resident of Liberty, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at home. He was 53. The son of Gerald Orseck and Virginia Wilson Orseck, Kirk was born on June 28, 1969, in Harris, NY.

Kirk was a successive partner of Orseck Law Offices, which was founded by his grandfather Sidney Orseck in 1928, and continued by his father Gerald Orseck, recently retired. A decorated combat Marine, he served in Desert Storm, and was elected state-wide as Judge Advocate and Chief Legal Officer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He has served as special counsel for the New York State Attorney General’s Office, and as a member of former Congressman Maurice Hinchey’s board for selection of candidates for the United States military academies. Kirk was elected and served as Liberty Town Justice. He was a past president of Congregation Ahavath Israel in Liberty. Kirk’s law practice was diverse and extensive and he was highly regarded by his clients.

Survivors include Kirk’s parents Gerald (Jerry) and Virginia (Ginger), Kirk’s brother Dr. Michael Orseck, a plastic surgeon, and wife Jennifer, and Kirk’s special niece and nephew, Gabby and Jake. Kirk’s cousins, aunts and uncles are too numerous to be listed.

A funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701.

Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty.

Memorial contributions in Kirk’s name may be made to CARE (Catskill Animal Rescue).
