It is with sadness that the family of Kristo “Kris” Krekun announce his passing on May 5th, 2025. He was surrounded by his family and lots of love in his final moments.
Kris was born in Montenegro to Savo and Stana on April 10, 1939. He had a beautiful and adventurous life. He began his career as a classically trained Baker finishing his apprenticeship in Germany then served in the British Army for 2 years as a Paramedic before immigrating to the United States. He became part of history working in the famous hotels of the “Borscht Belt”, baking for hundreds as they enjoyed what the Catskills had to offer. It was there that he met and fell in love with Ann Milunic who later became his wife of 46 years. Together they became a cornerstone of the Town of Bethel Community as proprietors of the Candy Cone for 17 years, putting smiles on children and adults and creating a gathering place where people shared food and laughter. As many of you know Kris always had a story and a joke, and was eager to meet new people and make new friends. This was the perfect combination he needed to become part of the Real Estate Industry where he later retired as a Broker/Owner of White Lake Realty.
Kris and Ann had two daughters, Susan Krekun, MD and Sonja Krekun and one granddaughter, Julia Castaldi. After Ann’s passing in 2010, Kris was lucky enough to find Victoria Greffrath who became the second love of his life, his best friend and partner until his passing. He is also survived by his sister, Milica in Montenegro.
Kris is predeceased by his wife Ann, his brother-in-law Matthew Milunic, his brothers Milo, Novo, Nikola and Ilia.
