Happy New Year! Grateful is the perfect way to start this new year off the right way.

To begin, a huge thank you to Eileen Hennessy for her many years of service contributing to the Lake Huntington News. I certainly have big shoes to fill but am grateful to announce that I will be sharing the news and events for Lake Huntington in this column.

This is truly a full-circle moment as my husband’s grandmother, Ethel Rohrman Hulse, was the previous contributor to the Lake Huntington News for the Sullivan County Democrat for many decades.

She took great pride in reporting the news, announcing new additions, and usually ended the column with “a great time was had by all!”

I hope to do her proud. Our family has many fond memories of Ethel handwriting her column to be delivered to the Editors each week.

A little bit about me: former art educator, Long Island native, blogger (find me online www.everafterinthewoods.com or @everafterinthewoods on Instagram & Facebook) and local advertising agency owner (www.jennpowelldesigns.com).

Our family resides locally, and we spend most of our spare time at our children’s sporting events, horse shows and local restaurants supporting local, small business.

I am looking forward to sharing news, events, local businesses and more. There are so many wonderful things happening here in Sullivan County and I cannot wait to share them all! Business and company spotlights are on the horizon.
