Lake Huntington - August 25

Hello my readers and friends, what's new? Hope you are all enjoying this summer the best you can. For me, same old same old staying home and being safe. I do go into the office on Mondays and Thursdays, and get my food shopping done. I have been saving quite a bit of money. You do not realize how much you spend in gas when you are running all over the place and how much you spend going out to dinner. This year cannot end fast enough.

Supervisor Gary Maas and the town board, Dr Paul Salzberg, Ed Grund, Sean Nearing and Michael Walters all worked very hard on the Cochecton clean-up weekend. I was told that it was a record breaking clean-up, very successful two days. They collected everyone's unwanted and useless junk. They filled 9 dumpsters and over 200 tires were received. There was also one dumpster filled with metal. Thank you Gary and the town board for working so hard to keep Cochecton clean. Litter pluck may be over but, if you see anything on the side of the road, pick it up.

I remember as a kid throwing a gum wrapper out the car window and my dad stopped the car and made me go pick it up and called me a litter bug. He said if you throw a gum wrapper out and your brothers and sister do and me and mom, it will look a mess, put it in your pocket and throw it out when you get home.

Fosterdale Cafe would like everyone to know that they will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Café will be open 1-7:30 p.m. for food and 1-8 p.m. for ice cream.

If you are spending time at the lake please take home any garbage that you might have. Local people are trying to keep the surrounding area of the lake clean. The state park rule is you bring it you take it. The lake is there for all of us to enjoy.

Keep smiling and have a great week and you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@
