Lake Huntington - February 2

Posted

I have to start off by thanking everyone who called me and sent me emails to check up on me and hoped I was feeling better.

I still have a bit of a cough and junk in my lungs, a hot shower usually takes care of that in the morning. I had to go to Callicoon to put the tax deposit in the bank on Saturday.

With talk of snow coming I ran into Peck's Market for a few things. I ran into a coworker, Linda Dollinger, and she was asking me about the shot. They say if you're going to get sick from it, it will be the second shot that gets you sick. That's just lovely. I go for shot #2 on Friday. Wish me luck. I am truly blessed with great readers, some people just do not get me but I love all of you.

Have you been driving around the lake lately? So many people are out on it. I guess because I am not an ice fishing person I cannot understand the thrill of it. Freezing trying to catch a fish, some people have tents or huts with fires going.

When I first moved up they used to have ice skating and events on the ice. When I worked in Pete's Pub at night when you were cleaning up you could hear the lake moan. Pete and Anita would tell me, you ever hear of the Loch Ness Monster, well we have The Lake Huntington monster and he is talking to you. They thought they were funny but the lake really does moan. When it is starting to break up, it gets louder.

Please check out The Cochecton Youth Commission on Facebook. They have some very cool stuff coming up. CYC has a fun surprise for each Cochecton Youth.

2021 tax season: January payment had to be post marked by 1/31/2021. If you just put it in the mail box, it is going to be sent up to Albany and not get to me till the 2nd or 3rd. I am going to have to check with the county to see if I can take them. It's so important to get your stamp cancelled in the post office when you are mailing them on the last day.

You can always check on taxlookup.net for your tax information. The amount shown does not have any penalties added to it. You can always send me an email at taxcollector@townofcochecton.ny.org and I will get back to you within a day. If the weather is bad call first: 845-932-8360 X 17, I will not be in.

If you are paying in person you have to wear a mask, put your tax payment on my desk and wait in the hall. You must have the exact amount. If you would like to pay online, full payments only if you did not make the first payment in January, the link is https://webtownhall.com/onlinepaymentportalcochectonny/Home.aspx.

Wash your hands and please wear a mask. Have a great week, you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845-252-3568 if you have any news.
