Lake Huntington - June 30

Hello all, hope you are all doing great, and enjoying life. I go into the office two times a week, only the boss and myself. It's nice to get out of the house and get back to a little bit of normalcy. I got my sparkle back bright blue on my nails and toes. I get the spa pedicure hot towels and stones on my legs, love when they twist your ankle and crack your toes. I go to Rt 6 Nails in Honesdale, they had plastic up all over, you sit in like a plastic tent, I felt very safe.

WE DID IT, Lake Huntington got its first treatment on Thursday the 18th of June. We can see the results already and are so excited to keep this progress going with finding solutions to reduce the nutrient flow into the lake to keep the algae from growing at all.

I met the treatment company at the public launch at around 8 a.m., along with a DEC officer to oversee the boat and the treatment that was used. They treated the lake approximately 50' out from the shoreline all the way around the lake. We are going to monitor the reaction of the lake to the treatment, so we can decide what our next step is for the summer and summers ahead.

I want to thank all the board members for their work in making this happen, also all the members that contributed with your yearly dues. We like to know what your thoughts are about the treatment and are open to all and any advice you may have. We will try to get back to you as quickly as we can.

We know not everyone was happy we were doing this treatment, but the algae around the shorelines was unbelievable and had to be dealt with. The treatment we used is an approved treatment from the DEC (SECLEAR), and we obtained all the proper permits that we needed for the treatment. I'm sure that the treatment is a better solution than having your children and family swim in the water with the algae that was growing.

In closing please send in your dues ($100) for the year of 2020, PO Box 95, LakeHuntington, NY 12752. We need to keep going with the progress of our lake. Have a great summer and be safe. Sincerely, Michael F. Popolillo, President.

Be safe and wash your hands and wear your mask.

Keep smiling and have a great week and you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@
