Lake Huntington - June 9

Hello everyone hope you are enjoying this nice weather, we had a wicked storm over the weekend. I have to say I sleep every night with the sound of a thunder storm. When I lived in Queens, the attic was my bedroom and living room. I had the bed by the window so when it rains I could look out and watch. I miss my attic, so many good memories. One time I had about 5 friends stay over, yes all girls. My dad yelled up the steps the next morning “How many am I cooking for?”, my parents had a rule, their doors were never locked, friends always welcomed. The good old days.

This is why I love writing the Lake Huntington News. Hi Eileen - When I moved my mom down here to South Jersey with me, we subscribed to the paper so she could stay connected with the towns. After she passed, I have continued to subscribe because Lake Huntington is home and I, too, like to read the local news. I really enjoyed your May 12 column. (I get the paper about a week or more late). Mrs. Meyer's memories were wonderful. I do hope that more older residents will contribute their remembrances of Lake Huntington, the people who lived there, events, buildings, etc. As they pass we lose a good bit of history. Thank you to Mrs. Meyer and to you for including her first hand information in your column, Sincerely, Jan (Guttzeit) Hauser. I asked Jan if she has any memories she could share with us.

If you are bored spending time on Facebook check out The New Cochecton Youth Commission page and see the picture of the kids with their games they got from the CYC. Keep up to date and see what great new ideas they will have to keep the kids entertained.

Litter Pluck ends on June 30, you can get plastic bags and stickers at the town hall or the transfer station. If you are interested in helping out the town to clean up some roads give Jerry a call at (845) 932-8210.

Town Cleanup day will be some time in August. You can always check out the town's website for more information.

Be safe and wash your hands and wear your mask.

Keep smiling and have a great week and you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@

citlink.net or call (845) 252-3568 if you have any news. My new deadline is Friday.
