Hello everyone. It’s Fran DeFilippi Kurpil. We are welcoming a beautiful month of July, very warm but great swimming weather. I know our granddaughter Megan Burns agrees with that.

She and her cousin, Nick Mungeer, love their work as life-guards at Hanoffe Park. Megan has been there for several summers and she gets hugs from kids who have grown a few inches, but remember her fondly. Meg is one of those people who has a special blessing for bonding with young ones. Her Bachelor of Science degree from Alfred University is in Early Childhood Education, and she is currently working on her Masters in Literary Education at St. Bonaventure University and is employed by Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville, N.Y. as a second grade teacher.

Liberty CDC Flag Fund: I’m sure everyone agrees that our village looks beautiful as it proudly flies our American Flag up and down Main Street and at both traffic circles. I checked on their site where it explains the cost for a full set for Main Street is $1,000 and there is a form to send a tax-deductible donation from $15 up. Check Kelly Ratner Memorial Flag Fund. Let’s keep OLD GLORY flying.

Pestech Company: Thanks to this company for their dedication to making our Village look gorgeous with hanging flower baskets along our streets. All this warm weather and lack of rain makes it a big job to keep them looking so vibrant. The last two rainy days were very welcome.

Bethel Woods: A 2021 reopening season is planned and there is a great line-up. July 20: Chicago. August 6: Zac Brown Band with Teddy Swims and Ashland Craft. August 21: James Taylor and his All Star Band With Jackson Browne. August 23: Dead & Company. I’m remembering these names and if dear son Sammie was here, I know he and Rob Friedland and other friends would be there.

P.L.A.Y. ....Programs At Bethel Woods: Peace, Love, Arts, You. These programs invite young people, 9 to 15 to explore creative arts. They are led by the education team and will offer multiple art-immersive experiences including a rock camp, a song writer workshop and a music theater. (visit: bethelwoodscenter.org) I’m rather wishing I was 15 and I know my Christina would love the song writers workshop. She writes & sings very heart-warming songs....but she is not 15!

Liberty Village Board: Trustee, Viki Ferguson has resigned her position on the Village Board for personal reasons, and Mayor Ron Stabak has appointed Ernest Feasel to the Board. He is a Liberty school teacher. I know Ernie is happy to be involved and we appreciate that he is ready to help out as a Trustee. I thank Joan Stoddard for filling me in on this up-date.

Everyone: Enjoy our great, beautiful countryside. I never tire of taking Old 17, off the busy highway with the green mountains in view as well as the multi-colored stone cliffs that border some of our roads.

Bye for Now: God Bless America.
