October 26 - Hello Everyone: It’s Fran De Filippi Kurpil…Here we are Mid October. What a gorgeous day today. Early this morning, I saw bright lights in the hallway and thought I must have left a light on last night. No…it was the bright moon shining in my West-facing windows. There is a bit of breeze and now I see some leaves floating down from our trees. I have a little display in my kitchen of beautiful red, orange and yellow leaves that I picked up as I walked to my mailbox. Then when dear grandson, Garrett Diehl came visiting, he brought me a handful of pine cones that he picked off a tree in our yard. So I’m enjoying Autumn.
Swan Lake…Nancy Levine: It is so good to chat with a resident of her hometown who is so positive about what is happening. She raved over the unending volunteer clean-up by TIM and Yvonne Eronomomous and was so happy that Patels have opened a great Country Store. I have to make a trip to Swan Lake to observe and, of course, stop for the best lunch at Casa Di Longobardi…and see my old friend, Castrese. He said it is over twenty years since I sold him his house and property out in Parksville. He and his friend, Laurie, have a very charming restaurant, great food and my favorite vino served with warm Italian hospitality.
Pete Feinberg: Enjoying a big family celebration of the 96th birthday of Naomi Peck, his wife, Debbie’s Mom. Over 40 people came. Since I retired from real estate, I’m not up on sale activity but Pete says it slowed a bit due to low inventory. With low interest rates there is still activity but not like Spring and Summer.
Our Air Force Mom: I’ve kept in touch with Sonja Trappe, a former co-worker in real estate. We were all so proud of her when she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force a few years ago. She is now at a base in Texas and told me the heart-warming news that she and Jeremy have welcomed baby daughter, Sophie. Oh, “there is no greater joy”, says this Mom, Grandma and Great-Gram.
Liberty Business Expanding: Frito Lay is planning to double workforce and put as much as 15 million into upgrades and expansion of Ideal Snacks. “Great news for town and village,” says town management.
Halloween Parade in Parksville: Harriet Dorfman is happy to say, “amazing talent coming Sunday, Oct. 31st…4 p.m.”
Everything Old Is New Again: A quote from Better Homes and Gardens, “floral wallpaper, antique mahogany stools, iron scroll bed frame”…that might sound like a recipe for a house stuck in the past, but the latest trends are encouraging antique and contemporary counterpoints. In every space there’s a surprise of scale or pattern that’s fully modern. They suggest: Granny Chic or New Traditional. Interesting info for the real estate market.
Daylight Savings Time: Ends Sunday, November 7th…turn clocks back one hour. Voting: Election Day: Tuesday, November 2nd.
My best to all.
