LIBERTY – The wrestling teams from Eldred/Sullivan West (ESW) and Monticello visited Liberty on Monday night for a tri-match. Liberty, with a program that has expanded from eight last season to 30 this year, defeated both teams and ESW defeated Monticello in the other match.

When Liberty squared off against ESW, the Indians’ numbers certainly helped as they garnered six wins via forfeit. In the five head-to-head matches, Liberty won three and ESW won two.

Liberty’s Justin Loucks earned a pin in just 26 seconds en route to a 54-12 victory over the merged program of Eldred and Sullivan West.

Liberty and Monticello were evenly matched with three wrestlers from each school winning by pinfall against each other. The difference, however, was in the forfeits, as Liberty earned five forfeit victories to Monticello’s one.

Liberty earned their second win of the night, defeating Monticello 48 to 24.

In the third matchup, between ESW and Monticello, the two teams were pretty evenly matched, but Eldred/Sullivan West took the 36-30 victory. The match featured nine forfeits and two pins, five forfeits for Monticello and the other four and two pins going in favor of ESW.

ESW’s Logan Milk pinned his opponent in 15 seconds for the fastest pin of the night.

Liberty traveled to Onteora last night and lost the match 66-0.
