Hello Everyone: I'm sure we all agree, the leaves this Autumn are the brightest reds and oranges we've seen in years. If anyone saw me walking to my mailbox, constantly picking up leaves, they'd think I was crazy. Well, I sure am. My Chrissy told me to iron them between waxed paper. I will do that and use them to decorate my table for a family birthday coming up on Sunday.

Down The Decades: As an O.P. (old person) I love to read the events of the past that are so well documented in the Democrat. As I scanned, I saw: TEN YEARS AGO: “The Kurpil Family Fiddlers Performed for the Bethel Woods Bluegrass Jamboree featuring Ralph Stanley”. What an unforgettable day that was for Sam on guitar, his daughters, Cindy and Christina on fiddles and friend Robert Zink on stand-up bass. They appreciated the invitation from Allan Gerry, and the way the performers were welcomed at the gate and treated with dinner and a special suite was awesome. As I said, unforgettable for me too, not a performer, but a clapper. Ralph Stanley was a big name in Country music at the time.

My Husband's Sense Of Humor: All smiles as he noticed the headline on last Tuesday's Democrat… All Aboard! $200,000 SAM Grant. Sorry my Sammie, it's for the rail trail expansion project in South Fallsburg. Great news for hikers, especially on these beautiful days. A great week-end walk for us while days are so pleasant.

Local Politics: I'm sure many locals are very happy to see that Maurice Gerry has agreed to run for Councilman. He has the ability to work with others and get the job done. I saw some yeas from Brian McPhilips and Laurie Dutcher, so I see progress happening. He is unopposed, so we wish him the best.

Liberty Mall: Jim Donahue, the manager, was not ready to reveal, but said, there are great plans ahead. As well as I know Jim from my years in the mall at Peter's Realty, he had to keep his secret! Well, that makes it more intriguing. Sounds very positive. At this point we see the new anchor tenants, Sullivan BOCES and the Sullivan Catskills Visitors' Association working on several projects, black topping the huge parking lots and Renaissance doing some nice landscaping. SCVA Logo signs went up and big digital sign boards are being installed.

Geri Gelsomino, a young child therapist is opening her professional office in the mall by Computer Doctors. I haven't met her yet but she will be a great source for all our local school districts. We welcome her warmly.

Wes Wallgren: Shock and tears from all who knew this great guy. We send our prayers for strength to his wife and family. Father Bader offered a funeral Mass at St. Peter's and so many friends attended. So many will never forget his smiling face. RIP, WES.

Daylight Saving Time Ends: November 1st. Turn clocks back one hour.
