LIBERTY  — On Friday, June 23, the Liberty Central School District Wall of Fame Committee inducted two honorees for the 2023 Wall of Fame: Joyce Eggler Teed and Daniel C. Thalmann. 

Thalmann, a 1981 Liberty graduate, dedicated his life to his community while serving in several local organizations. He put his family and dedication to the Liberty community above everything else. Thalmann passed away in 2022, which was a huge loss to the community. 

His two daughters, Alyssa Thalmann and Jessica Osterhout, were invited to accept the award and speak about their father’s impact to the community. 

“It is truly bittersweet for our father Daniel Thalmann to be inducted into the Wall of Fame with Joyce Teed,” Thalmann said. “Dad always spoke very highly of Ms. Teed, so I know he too is honored to be inducted beside her.”

“Many of you who stand here today have shared your stories about our father,”Osterhout said. “You’ve given us an opportunity to hear how our father has impacted you. We stand proud knowing that Daniel Thalmann was our father, and we are honored that he was accepted into the Liberty Central School District Wall of Fame.”

Teed, a 1958 Liberty graduate, was hired to work in Liberty schools in 1967 and held many roles at the school district. She had a lasting impact on the community and school. 

“This is really a wonderful, wonderful award,” Teed said. “I am very honored to be sharing this evening with Daniel Thalmann’s family. I just wish that he could be here with us today, so that we could congratulate each other and hug each other.”

Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther and County Legislator Luis Alvarez each read proclamations in honor of the two Wall of Fame inductees.
