Linda Jean (Klimchok) Schaefer lost her battle with cancer on May 27, 2024. Born on November 24, 1949 in Passaic, NJ to the late Joseph Klimchok and Dorothy (Hadden) DuBois.

Linda retired from the Monticello High School as the main office secretary. Through her career Linda made some amazing friends throughout her journey in the high school and had such cherished memories of those friends who were near and dear to her. Linda was also an avid bowler for most of her life and achieved career goals in bowling with making both the 500 and 600 clubs. Linda had a love for life and cherished her family especially her grandson and her lifelong friends. Linda was also a member of the Bethel Seniors.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter (Bucky) Schaefer who was the love of her life, beloved sister Barbara (Klimchok) Carlew, nephew Jared Carlew, stepfather Brian DuBois, Sr., stepdaughter, Lori (Schaefer)Hasting and good friend Donald Rupp.

She is survived by her only child, her daughter, Jacqueline (Gabriel) Mele and son-in-law Louis of Dingmans Ferry, PA, adored and only grandson Nicholas Brian Mele of Lock Haven University, PA. She is also survived by her sister Donna (Klimchok) DuBois and brother-in-law Gregory of Cochecton, Sandra Klimchok of Tennessee, Brenda (DuBois) Manzi and brother-in-law Jeff of Narrowsburg, brothers Brian DuBois and wife Chris of Tennessee, Bradley DuBois and wife Chris of Cochecton, and Bruce DuBois of Cochecton. She is also survived by her brother-in-law John Waldron of Jacksonville, FL and sister-in-law Marlene (Schaefer) Dexter of Wilmington, NC, stepdaughter Karen Linen and her husband John and their daughter Allison of Rock Hill. Special mention she is also survived by her lifelong best friend of 60 years, Sharon (Loughrey) Carroll as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held from 4 to 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 29th at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY 12749 with a funeral service held at 5pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. A committal service was held on Thursday, May 30th at 11am at Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel, NY.
