LIVINGSTON MANOR – Mackenzie Carlson, a standout athlete at Livingston Manor signed her letter of intent to play softball for the SUNY Oswego Lakers on Tuesday afternoon.

Carlson has been a key factor for the varsity softball team for the past four years, and has been a part of the Livingston Manor softball program for 13 years.

She also played basketball for five years in Livingston Manor, four of which were on the varsity team. This year she became a captain and assists with the youth basketball program.

Carlson earned Varsity-845 Player of the Week honors this season for both Basketball and Softball.

On top of her successes as an athlete, Mackenzie also takes the “student” half of student-athlete seriously, as she was named a Scholar Athlete for Livingston Manor this year.

She also volunteers her time outside of school with the Beaverkill Valley and Livingston Manor Fire Departments.

“Mackenzie is a great role model and leader for our younger Wildcats,” Athletic Director Dave Eggleton said. “We thank her for her service to our community and school district.”

Her coaches for both Basketball and Softball, Maggi Fitzpatrick and Nick Wyss respectively, spoke to her work ethic and drive as a student-athlete.

“Best of luck in your future endeavors,” Wyss said. “And remember that although I was once your coach, I will continue supporting you and being what seems like an older brother. I can’t wait to watch you play at Oswego!”
