Madlyn was 99 years old and within a few weeks of celebrating her 100th birthday. She was the daughter of Della and Gustave Johaneman, and eldest sister of Robert, Edward, Emil, Gussy, Rose, Helen, and Claude. As a veteran of WWII, she valued military service and organizations supporting our veterans, as well as the shenanigans of the IOOB. She was the family Matriarch.

She raised 4 children, after the loss of her husband, Richard Fred Schwartz, in January 1973. Children include Marie (Clyde), Peck (Connie), Patricia (Roy), and Sally (Jim). She was so proud of her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Working until about age 85, she had a philosophy of paying and paving the way for those she knew and loved. A long-standing Catholic faith, she believed in miracles and that prayers for others made a difference.

Raise your glass in a toast to a lady who enjoyed motorcycle rides to the Grand Ole' Opry, playing poker with several hometown folks and at the Casino (any of them), singing family ditties that to this day everyone else has to give long consideration to the correct words, sky-watching, walking, and puzzles. She lived in New York (Willowemoc/Livingston Manor and loved Beaverkill), Florida (Holly Hill and loved the beach), and Arizona (loving the warmth of the desert), and knew people across the nation, who she held dear. She had no boundaries in the area of meeting and embracing friendships. This woman was masterful at making conversation and putting people at ease, even when disagreeing on topics of the supernatural, alien existence, or political inclinations. She could hold her own, respecting others' viewpoints.

She would be first to emphasize being kind to one another and supporting those around us, who may need a smile or a helping hand. Please pay that forward…

Celebrations of Life will be announced in the future due to COVID.
