Margaret Edith Ulrich, of Neversink, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 85 and a lifelong resident of Sullivan County where she was surrounded by family and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Rufus William Porter and Edith Mary (Everett) Porter, born on January 7, 1935 in Divine Corners, Loch Sheldrake, NY.

Margaret attended school in Liberty, NY. In her early days, she made her living as an office manager for the Woolworth Company. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, listening to country music, knitting items to donate to various churches and organizations, watching TV - especially movies, and caring for her beloved cat, Gabby. But above all else, she loved her family and was a caring Mother and wife. She held dear the many memories that she made over the years with her growing family.

In her later years, Margaret appreciated the dedicated care given to her by her niece, Louise Dayton.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Brenda Distel and her husband Lenny, Karen Hess and her husband Tom, and Susan Giangiacomo; grandchildren Andrew McCabe, Tim Distel, Jon and Joe Giangiacomo and Jennifer Snodderley; great-grandchildren Michael, Kayleigh, Dominick and Derrick Giangiacomo; and her sister Mary Lee Haag, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her loving husband Carl Ulrich, son-in-law John Giangiacomo and brother-in-law George Haag.

The family held a private funeral service on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. The family will have a public gathering to celebrate their mother's life at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rock Hill SPCA, 104 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY 12775, Orange and Sullivan Hospice, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
