Marvin “Ray” Quam, 99, of Monticello, NY, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was born on April 4, 1925 in Dilworth, Minnesota. Ray was married to Concetta (Orefice) Quam, who passed away in 2002.
After high school Ray served in the US Navy during World War II. He later drove for Times Square Trucking in Manhattan. He was also an Auxiliary Police Officer for the 72nd precinct in Brooklyn, NY and taught gun safety at the Stuyvesant Gun Club. He was a member of the Ellenville Gun Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an expert marksman and competed all over the United States in pistol shooting competitions. Ray enjoyed working with leather and making belts.
He is survived by his children, Laurel Quam, Laraine Rodano and her husband Larry, Robin Quam-Holland, Gail Brooks DeVirgilio and her husband Steve Fine, Gary Quam, and Karen Quam, his grandchildren, Matthew Rodano, Elizabeth Brooks, Jordan Holland, Joseph DeVirgilio, Kerri Mahon, Jamie Lee Dunne, Joseph Dunne, and Jessica Quam, four great - grandchildren, his brother, Robert Quam, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his mother, Agnes (Bartholome) Quam.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. A graveside service was held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, 171-181 Sunset Lake Rd., Liberty, NY 12754.
