Mary Hill of Kenoza Lake, NY, a former associate at Brey’s Egg Farm, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the home of her daughter and longtime caregiver, Marianne Loflin. She was 81. 

The daughter of the late Mathias and Theresa Frank Selthafner, she was born December 6, 1940  in Cubono, Austria. She was the widow of Lester Howard Hill. Mr. Hill predeceased her on September 10, 2010. She was a devoted housewife for nearly 51 years.

Mary was a former 4-H Leader, a seamstress, a waitress at Ted’s Restaurant in Jeffersonville and at the Little Texas Ranch in Obernburg, and a volunteer at Fort Delaware. Her children and grandchildren were the most important things in her life and she gave so much to so many, while going without herself.

She is survived by her children: Marianne Loflin and her husband Dan of Kenoza Lake, Theresa Betty Hill Stagl of Lake Huntington, Lester William Hill and his wife Laura of Liberty,  Rose M. Hill and her husband Michael Riley of Monticello, Susan Elaine Thomaz-Caycho and her fianceé, Thomas Wells, of Jeffersonville, Jacqueline Nancy Hill of Hurleyville, and Katherine Lee Hill of Jeffersonville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and her husband Lester, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Melinda Joyce Stagl; two brothers, Mathias and Anton Selthafner; and her sister, Gisela Pfeil. 

Friends may call on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Father Roland Raj will officiate.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Youngsville, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stonybrook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
