Max Gitlin was born on January 19, 1933, at home in Monticello, NY. He passed away on August 31, 2020, at home in Davie, FL. He was 87. Max was the son of the late Louis and Sade Gitlin. His brothers, Benjamin, Murray, and Solomon, all predeceased him. Max was a proud graduate of Monticello High School (1950), and was the Captain of the basketball team that year, taking his team to the playoffs.

Max is survived by his daughter Lynn Merritt (Gene) of GA, his grandsons, James (Laura) of Maplewood, NJ, and Glen (Anne-Marie) Fant of Medford, MA. Max has four great grandsons, Harlan Fant, James Fant, Leo Fant and baby boy Fant, who will be born later this year. Max is also survived by his cousin Melvin Gitlin (Joyce) of Wurtsboro, NY, and their children Marc Gitlin (Stacy) in CO, and Riki Frankel (Ira) of Davie, FL, as well as other nephews, a niece and several cousins.
